ASTB Sections and Layout

The ASTB consists of 7 sections. To qualify as an officer, candidates must complete the first three sections, collectively known as the OAR (Officer Aptitude Rating).

Math Skills Test (MST)		Covers arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and word problems involving angles, perimeters, and distances.
Mechanical Comprehension Test (MCT)		Measures understanding of basic physics, including motion, pressure, volume, and simple machines.
Reading Comprehension Test (RCT)		Involves reading passages followed by multiple-choice questions testing comprehension and inference.
Aviation and Nautical Information Test (ANIT)		Assesses knowledge of aviation principles, nautical terminology, and aviation history.
Naval Aviation Trait Facet Inventory (NATFI)		Personality inventory evaluating traits relevant to aviation performance and teamwork.
