What Is the SIFT?
The Selection Instrument for Flight Training (SIFT) is an aptitude assessment required for candidates pursuing a career in U.S. Army Aviation.
The SIFT measures skills essential for success in aviation training, including math, reading comprehension, mechanical reasoning, spatial awareness, and aviation knowledge.
Scores range from 20 to 80, with 40 considered a passing score.
- A score of 40 or higher qualifies you for Army Aviation and cannot be retaken.
- If you score below 40, you may retake the test once after 45 days.
- The average SIFT score is 50.
Each candidate is allowed a maximum of two attempts in their lifetime.
