Why You Should Score More Than The Minimum ASVAB Score Requirement

Going by the official information from the website dedicated to the ASVAB testing program, the scores achieved by the applicants in the test are considered as the standard score. In other words, it is the score which is relative to the score secured by the youth who belong to the age group of 18-23 years at the national level. If say, for example, you secure 70%, it means you got a result at or better than those who received the same percentage of the score within the sample population. In this connection, a higher standard score means that you have scored above those people. The recruiters will also receive your score to assess your suitability for the Armed Forces Qualification Test (AFQT).

Generally, the process to calculate the average AFQT score involves taking into consideration the standard scores of your four subtests: mathematics knowledge, arithmetic reasoning, word knowledge and paragraph comprehension. Thereafter, the scores are rated in the same way as discussed above. Getting a score of 90% means you did as well or fared better than the same percentage of the people from the sample group.
